I am a medical feminist
Sarah Hillman, a clinician and academic researcher, takes us on a journey into medical feminism: from the courageous Edinburgh seven – the 18th century medical students who were never allowed to graduate; to the medical gender pay gap; to the outdated societal perceptions that are resulting in missed diagnoses and suboptimal care for women. In challenging the implications of unconscious gender bias, and male-orientated medicine, Sarah highlights that this is an issue that runs deeper than workforce or the pipeline of women’s careers; it directly impact the care and treatment provided to 50% of the population.
