Oliver Kaye
Ollie is a third-year medical student and a passionate patient advocate living with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and a permanent ileostomy. His unique perspective as both a patient and future doctor fuels his commitment to improving awareness, challenging stigma and amplifying the voices of people living with long-term, invisible conditions.
Through his social media platform, @thekidwithabag, Ollie shares his lived experience, that has reached millions across his platforms, helping to normalise conversations around bowel disease, and inspire people in similar circumstances.
His advocacy has led to opportunities to contribute to national media articles, podcasts, live panels and national health campaigns. Ollie also serves on Crohn’s & Colitis UK’s, Young Adults Advisory Panel (YAAP), representing the voices of young people, and is a member of the 2026 UK IBD Priority Setting Partnership Steering Group, helping to shape the future of IBD care and research across the UK.
Outside of medicine and advocacy, he is a committed sportsman who represented the England Under-19 Futsal team in 2023.
